The 5 of us (Ann Choo, Choo Yon Kit, Chew Leng Soon, Ching Neng Bin and Goh Ching Chee) flew by AirAsia flight D7 326 to Chengdu at 6.10pm. On arrival at Chengdu at 11pm our driver picked us up at the airport and transferred us to Xingyi Hotel at 33 Desheng Road, Qingyang District. Chengdu City is 500 meters above sea level and the temperature was 21°C.
The other 10 paxs flew in to Chengdu a day earlier are Alan Pan Lee Theng, Jessica Yap Swee Har, May Chia Mui Gek, Nyiam Kok Seong, Penny Pan Chin Seng, Peter Pan Chin Kong, Tan Pei Huan, Tee Kok Leong, Wong Fook Loy, Wong Lee Ching. While we were taking lunch at KLIA, they were taking their lunch at Wide and Narrow Alley (Kuanzhai Xiangzi) in Chengdu.

Day 2 (15.10.2019) – Chengdu > Mount Balang Observatory Deck > Mao Bi Liang Observatory Deck > Mount Siguniang Shuang Qiao Gou > Danba.
On day 2, we traveled about 350km in 6 hours to Danba. It was canyon scenery along the way, Mount Balang snowy mountains and sea of clouds, Mount Siguniang best scenic spot at Mao Bi Liang & Shuang Qiao Gou. Altitude of 500m up to 3,200 and down to 1,900 meters.
Morning: We were along the Min River, via Dujiangyan and Zipingpu water conservancy project, along Duwen Expressway. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of gorges, bridges, water, withered vine and old trees. Then drove across Mount Balang and enjoyed the view of clouds, red azalea, red and white rhododendrons, Spanish moss, alpine meadows, etc. Experienced the change from evergreen forest to alpine desert, exclaiming "four seasons on a mountain, different skies within 10 miles" the weather changes. Afternoon: Mount Siguniang Shuang Qiao Gou (own expense: tickets ¥ 80/person, sightseeing car ¥ 70/person). Shuang Qiao Gou spans 30 km, where high and steep mountains abound. There is Mount Guozhuang, Moon-watching Rhino, Penguin Mouth and Sharp Knife Mountain, etc. Both sides of the valley are mountains but they are all different. Everywhere you look is a beautiful scene. It is described as “vertically it is as a ridge, horizontally it is like a peak, different from afar and near at different level”.
After exploring Shuang Qiao Gou, we were driven back at a place and our bus took us to Danba via Xiaojin County. Sleeping at Danba Xihe Business Hotel and had dinner together. Temperature between -1 to 10°C.

The fresh Chinese dates for breakfast. Commonly called jujube, red date or Chinese date, is a species of Ziziphus in the buckthorn family. My first time taking fresh Chinese dates and I love it very much.

The altitude here is 12,060ft or 3,675m on this highway to Danba. Driving through the Duwen Express to Wenchuan, and then passed through Yingxiu and Wolong. Driving through the Balang Mountain arriving in Rilong town for lunch.

Taking these authentic Sichuan cuisine is much more than just chilies and peppercorns. It is a culture that displays incredible depth and breadth encompassing a myriad of taste profiles – from sweet and sour vinegar sauce based, to numbingly spicy or “ma la”.

Mount Balang is located to the east of Xiaojin County, over 200km away from Chengdu. The mountain highway pass is at altitude 4,523 meters, making driving at the Mount Balang one of the most thrilling mountain driving experience in China.
At Mount Siguniang Shuang Qiao Gou park (South Gate). Entrance fee: ¥ 80pp, sightseeing bus ¥ 70pp. In the valley, you need take the scenic bus which is the easiest and fastest way for natural sightseeing. Siguniangshan is not only famous for Mt. Siguniang, it also famous for the three main valleys in the scenic area. The three valleys are—Shuangqiao Valley, Changping Valley, and Haizi Valley.
Shuangqiao Valley is the most beautiful valley among three valleys. With an area of 216.6 square kilometers, it possesses vistas of snowy peaks, pastures, meadows and forests, etc.
This is the furthest attraction in Shuangqiao Valley of 30km from the main entrance. About an hour drive using shuttle bus from the gate but worth it.

Danba is 2,100m above sea level with lush vegetation, thus oxygen content is relatively high. We stayed at Danba on the first night to adapt to the high altitude climate.
