The Penang Adventurers’ Club was founded on 24 April 1976 by a group of energetic and dynamic young men in Penang, namely M. Pasupathy, Ching Neng Bin and Hoon Joong High who happened to share a common interest in their love for nature, outdoor life, and adventure. They had a dream to initiate a club where people from all walks of life can gather for fellowship and to plan outdoor activities for themselves and others.

The club was officially registered on 6th December 1979. It is a non-profit organization which organizes recreational and leisure activities for members as well as the public. It also renders whatever services it can to the community for the betterment of society. The formation of the club marked a significant development in the Penang Municipal Park. The club has organized successful projects such as the Round Island Walk, Children’s Adventure Camp, Youth Camp, Fun Run, Lantern Night Festival, Hikathon, and etc.

Freddy Tye, Ching Neng Bin, and Lina Ng were very old friends from the Penang Youth Park in the 1980s. We haven't seen each other in 39 years since the end of 1983. Meeting new friends after a long time is a joy in itself.

Lina Ng said she attended the 8th Honorary Recreational Leadership (HRL) Course held at Taman Belia Youth Park from 1981 to 1982. Ching Neng Bin was surprised when Lina Ng said that she was formally interviewed by Ching Neng Bin, Terry Khoo, and Ooi Chin Hock at the Penang Youth Park before being accepted to join PAC. At that time, anyone wishing to join PAC must participate in or help organize at least two projects before one can even be considered for an interview to apply for PAC membership.

Ching Neng Bin, another founding member of PAC, talked about the formation of the Adventurers` Club in 1976 at Penang Youth Park. Ching Neng Bin is extremely proud and absolutely thrilled to know that the Club has acquired a clubhouse. He congratulated the members for having good fundraising projects to be able to buy property.

Ching explained that he left Penang in 1983 to go to Perak State for a promotion at Public Bank Bhd. Since then, he has not returned to Penang for Club's activities. However, the 1st activity he participated was the 12 Day Gunung Tahan Expedition (19 to 30 Apr 1985). It was duly organised by the Penang Adventurers` Club under the guidance of 1985 PAC President, Mr. Terry Khoo Khay Hock. The 2nd activity was the 76.8km Round Penang Island Walk in 1991. Ching's greatest accomplishment was representing Malaysia in the 10-Day Marlborough Adventure Team to the United States in 1994.

Ching thanked the other two founding members - Mr Hoon Joong High and the late Mr M.Pasupathy. Ching thanked the Club for inviting him to the opening ceremony of the PAC Club House and Deepavali Gathering and wishes the club continued good adventures for everyone.
