A 30day 9,938km Trans-Siberian Train (21 Jun > 20 Jul, 2024) Vladivostok in the east to St. Petersburg.
Our breakfast at Cosmos Olympia Garden Hotel in St Petersburg.
Day 28 (July 18) Saint Petersburg on day 4 is a free day for walking and eating.
Today, some of us are having our last breakfast in St. Petersburg. It is heartbreaking to see some people leave after 28 days together. Dato Sharon Tan and Tan Sin Su are heading to China. Chong Ee Ee, Ng Sock Ee, and Chin Tai Tat are traveling to Turkey. Ann Kuah Beang Yen, Choo Yon Kit, Chew Siang Peng, Goh Ching Chee, Joyce Ho Chai Yoong, and Wong Lai Chee will be heading to the UK.
During our 28-day journey through Russia, we enjoyed a highly significant and emotional experience. Saying goodbye after such a long time together can be devastating, especially over something as simple as a farewell breakfast, which suddenly feels so significant.

Waiting outside the hotel to take taxi to the airport, say farewell, and meet again in Malaysia. Today, some members of the group traveled to Istanbul to continue their experience, while others waited for their flight to London to see relatives and friends.

The other 8 of us were due to go back, but Emirate Air rescheduled our flight for July 19, nearly a month ago. Our tour leader, Ko Wen Wu, relocated us to Nevskiy Eclectic because the current hotel was full.

We had to walk up 4 floors to the hotel reception via a dirty and dimly lit staircase because the hotel lift was under maintenance.

There are numerous zebra crossings here, which taxed the patience of vehicles. Russian drivers follow zebra crossings and traffic lights with zeal.

After lunch, it was walking about John Lennon Street (Ulitsa Dzhona Lennona).

John Lennon Street at Ligovsky Avenue, 53, in the courtyard. David Wee discovered this nearly by accident. Followed two guys through the Art Center double doors, passing by Fish Fabrique, which claimed to be St Petersburg's oldest underground club. Then onto a courtyard, and voilà, a Beatles shrine! The courtyard is gorgeous, due to the residents who maintain it, which is adorned with Beatles caricatures, paintings, and graffiti. Beyond the courtyard, there is further graffiti and painting that add to the atmosphere of the site.

David Wee walks through the courtyard at 53 Ligovsky Prospekt and find himself at the entrance to one of St. Petersburg's most popular clubs. Fish Fabrique, Russia's quintessential alternative venue, is small and cozy, with a stage for live events and, of course, a table football table.

David Wee at the Carriage of Time Monument in St. Petersburg (1st Sovetskaya Street).
This monument is interactive; you can get into the carriage.

The bronze monument sits on a two-stage pedestal. It is a cab carriage, which is a light open 4-wheeled double carriage that is usually driven by one horse. Above the carriage, on a bronze tripod, made in the form of cables, there is a clock. For this reason, the monument is also known as the “Carriage of Time”, as a sign of the edification that our time is fleeting – not so long ago, carriages moved along the streets of the city.
