The Sverdlovsk City Council Building at 1905 Square. This is one of Yekaterinburg's prominent architectural landmarks. Prior to the October Revolution of 1917, this property was occupied by a Gostinyi Dvor, a marketplace in Tsarist Russia. Later, the ancient structure (no longer standing) hosted local branches of a regional museum. Today, it houses the city administration as well as the Yekaterinburg city Duma, which is a legislative body.

Red Line Walks is a tourist route that traces a 5.5-kilometre walking circuit around the centre of Yekaterinburg. It draws straight on asphalt and covers 35 of the best tourist sights, such as The Square of 1905, The Monument to the Keyboard, The Monument to "The Beatles" Band, The Church on the Blood.

We took part in the Yekaterinburg Red Line walking tour. The sun was scorching, but the temperature was cool (24-26 degrees Celsius). We liked the green park with its leafy trees and gorgeous flowers, the slow, languid river, the various odd and cute statues, the Beatles Corner, historical buildings, murals, and so on.

Rotundas on Plotinka is a magnificent new addition to the River Weir environment. It is a popular photo location and has become a symbol of the city.

Called the Church on Blood in Honour of All Saints Resplendent in the Russian Land, this church stands on the site where the last tsar of Russia, Emperor Nicholas II, and his family were executed. The year was 1918. After nearly a year of captivity, Emperor Nicholas, his wife, and their children were brought to an engineer's home in Yekaterinburg, Russia, to face their fate. The Bolsheviks who detained them were given orders to assassinate the royal family and destroy the remains with acid so that they would not be venerated.
