2022 - A family BBQ night at a family farmhouse

A good family barbecue evening was organised on 9th April 2022 at Kim's Family Farmhouse, Kg. Lumut Kiri. After the completion of the farm gazebo in November 2021, it was time overdue to organize a BBQ night for the family.

The best time was “Cheng Beng” festival when all family members came back that we could bring the whole gang out for a night of open-air cooking at the farmhouse. We learn how to whip up a variety of menus that the entire family will enjoy, then dine in our cozy tea-house gazebo 18x18ft space. Family bonding time builds confidence, teaches children about interacting with others, and create wonderful memories that last a lifetime. The BBQ party ended late at about 10.30pm to be continued the next day.

The “Cheng Beng” or Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day in English, is a traditional Chinese festival observed by the Chinese all over the world.

Kim's Family Farmhouse attendees were Ching Neng Bin and Catherine Oon, Ching Meei Jin and Dr Goh Chooi Beow, Ching Neng Shyan and Judith Khoo, Ching Jin Yuan and Jessie Lee, Ching Jin Wei and Shevin Teoh, Elise Ching Sze Lin and the youngest Crystabelle Ching.

There’s an old saying that goes: families that play together, stay together.

Boiling corn before grilling gives the corn a smokey flavor from the grill and ensures that it is thoroughly cooked. This method also shortens the grilling time and prevents the corn kernels from drying out at Kim's Farmhouse, Kg. Lumut Kiri.

The Kim's family farmhouse gazebo was completed in November 2021. A gazebo is a pavilion structure, sometimes octagonal or turret-shaped, often built in a park, garden or spacious public area.

Family members then dine in our cozy gazebo space in the farmland.

A farmhouse has always been associated with farming, as well as living in the countryside and enjoying the peacefulness of nature.

The benefits of a farmhouse are numerous and can include having your own source of fresh food and fruits, as well as being surrounded by wide open spaces and the countryside views.

Farmhouse maintenance can be handled by one or two people and inexpensive DIY repairs.

Farmland is both fun and educational for children, playing with chicken, ducks, geese and seeing bees.

Farm gives you more opportunities for exercise like helping in the garden and planting of fruit trees.

Farming is good for mental health - no matter how you feel, there’s no way not to look out over a beautiful green landscape every day!

Even in the rain, family members continued with the barbecuing.
