2018 Exploring Khao Yai, Thailand (Day 3)

Day 3 (Fri.07 Dec.2018) – On this day we drove about 125km exploring places of interest around Khao Yai. In the morning we visited The Bloom Garden Khao Yai and the nearby PB Valley Khaoyai Winery. The Bloom by TVPool is the biggest flower garden in Thailand with its 16 hectares of space in Pak Chong district side of Khao Yai national park, Nakorn Ratchsima province. The PB Valley Khao Yai Winery sits amidst a lush 320-hectare plantation, of which 80 hectares is dedicated to growing grapes. After having steak for lunch at Chokchai Steakhouse we went for the farm tour at Chokchai Farm. We then visited Midwinter Green with a lighthouse that resembles more of a Belgium castle for photo-shoot. Dinner was at Krua Khao Yai Restaurant.

The 100TB each buggy ride through the garden in The Bloom, Khao Yai. I suggest to take the walk which is better than the ride.

At the entrance of the PB Valley Khao Yai Winery. “The Great Hornbill Grill” a scenic country styled restaurant located amidst the vineyards and offers Western and Thai specialties.

The wine selection available at PB Valley Estate are Chenin Blanc, Colombard, Shiraz, Tempranillo, Durif, Dornfelder and Cabernet Sauvignon.

We had steak for lunch at Chokchai Steakhouse beside the Farm Chokchai, Khao Yai.

Buy the Chokchai Farm tickets first and then wait for the next Farm Tour.

We were shown into a small theatre and watched a short movie about Chokchai Farm on how it started, how it grew and what products they made.

Chokchai Farm is South Asia’s largest dairy farm.

After the movie, we walked around part of the farm to see a prize bull and hear about Chockchai Farms breeding program.

We were briefed and seen the demonstration of cow milking at Chockchai Farms.

We were briefed and seen how the milk was processed, how the famous Chokchai ice cream was made.

From the Chockchai Farm ice-cream factory we were then taken onto a tractor caravan (like an open sided train), and we were driven around the farm to see the land and the cattle.

The kids could ride horses, adults and kids could ride ATVs around the Chokchai farm.

After the 25 minutes ride, we stopped at a cowboy town "I wanna be a cowboy" and here we could buy iced coffee, milk or ice cream all made with the famous Chokchai milk.

At Chokchai Farm it’s lovely just to walk around and admire the green fields, the flowers and the hills in the distance.

Visiting Chokchai Farm in Khao Yai is not only a fun day for the family but it’s also a wonderful educational experience for kids.

Midwinter Green Khao Yai is the place for taking photos. It was formally known as The Smoke House when it started in early 2011, and in 2014 it was renamed Midwinter Green by the new owner.

Midwinter Green Khao Yai - The castle restaurant is so huge that it consists of an indoor and outdoor dining areas, including a store and bar area. The backyard of the castle is actually the outdoor dining area which is an ideal place for organizing events, since they have a stage here.

Midwinter Green Khao Yai - Behind the bar is a set of stairs that leads to another dining area with a huge balcony to enjoy the breath-taking view of the mountains and valleys of Khao Yai.

Midwinter Green Khao Yai has the Picnic Store which offered a wide array of freshly-baked bread and cakes.
