Day 10 (25.10.2018) - Destination: Kalgan River Chalets and Caravan Park, Albany WA. 
 
Getting there was the 136km drive and visiting the town of Denmark. Denmark is a coastal town located on Wilson Inlet in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, 423km south-south-east of the state capital of Perth. After pitching up our tents at the Kalgan River Chalets and Caravan Park, we drove to Albany town for lunch at the Hungry Jack’s. Visited a supermarket before heading back to Caravan Park. The Kalgan River Chalets and Caravan Park campsite is AUD65 a night.

Visited the town of Denmark. Denmark is a coastal town located on Wilson Inlet in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, 423km south-south-east of the state capital of Perth.


Visited the town of Denmark. Located on the banks of the beautiful Denmark River, this small town is where the tall trees meet the ocean. The timber industry was why Denmark was established, as the town use to supply timber for goldfield development.


Visited the town of Denmark. Today the town relies mainly upon tourism and has some great natural features to offer people. The town is surrounded by beautiful coastal scenery, karri forests, stunning white beaches, clear ocean blue waters, and spectacular limestone headlands.

Kwoorabup Community Park is perfect for family picnics or meet ups - there are sheltered barbecue areas large enough to accommodate a child’s birthday party and the adventure playground and sculpture park add interest for all ages.

East of the city, Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve is home to secluded Little Beach. Albany’s Historic Whaling Station, a former whale processing plant, now houses a museum. Migrating whales pass off the coast at Torndirrup National Park, where steep cliffs give way to dramatic rock formations.


Kalgan River Chalets and Caravan Park, is situated 11 km east of Albany on the Kalgan River. This park suits travellers looking for plenty of space.

Albany Port Theatre - In 1961 Bruce Houston, Johan Garritty and Stan Johnston made a bet of a case of beer with Wilson Weight that he could not start a successful theatre company. Wilson won and the Albany Light Opera Company was born.

Mokare was well known in his short life for being a peacemaker, and an effective mediator between black and white communities. He was concerned when Stirling took command of the Albany settlement in 1830, as he had heard of the battles and massacres between European settlers and Aboriginal people, and wished Albany to be maintained as a separate settlement.
