2015 - North-Eastern Thailand and Laos - Day 22

North-Eastern (I-San) Thailand and Laos, 16 Nov - 10 Dec 2015 (25days)

Hua Lampong Railway station, Bangkok.

Day 22 (7.12.2015) Bangkok to Prachuap Khiri Khan by train (320km)

This morning Chew Leng Soon got up early at 5.40am for breakfast. Chan Meng Fye and Ching Neng Bin bid farewell to Chew Leng Soon who left us at 6.45am for the airport to catch the 10am flight back to KL.

We both had our late breakfast at 9am to 10am before checking out and made our way to Hua Lampong Railway station for the 1pm departure to Prachuap Khiri Khan. We bought the 2nd class BSC48 coach type for 245baht per person which is very cheap for a 320km journey. It was a long traveling day as we only arrived Prachuap Khiri Khan at almost 7.30pm. Prachuap Khiri Khan is a city in the South Eastern Coastal part of Central Thailand and is the capital of the province of this name.
Train fares:
Special Express (only one class): 455฿
Express: 3rd class: 208฿, 2nd class: 285฿
Rapid: 3rd class: 168฿, 2nd class: 245฿

Train is definitively not the fastest way to travel in Thailand, but it might be the best to enjoy the scenery along the way.

Travel on the train from Bangkok to Prachuap Khiri Khan takes you to the centre of the town, with the railway station located just five minutes’ walk to the sea side and plenty of places to stay just a short walk away.

We had our dinner here at an open air Prachuap Khiri Khan food court.
