2019 Italy Tour (Day 7,8) Venice > Burano Island > Malaysia

Burano the island of colors - Picturesque Burano known for its brightly colored fisherman's houses and its casual eateries serving seafood from the lagoon.

Day 7 (15.4.2019) Venice > Burano Island > Malaysia

Today is our last day in Italy and was supposed to be a shopping day before we fly home at 5.55pm. In view that we do not need shopping anymore, our tour manager Audrey strongly recommended that we visit a beautiful island known as Burano, however, at own expenses of €45 each.

Picturesque Burano is known for its brightly colored fisherman's houses and its casual eateries serving seafood from the lagoon. The Museo del Merletto has exhibits on the development of lace-making in the area, and shops sell lace products like linens and clothes, as well as the local butter cookies called "bussolai buranei." The ancient Chiesa di San Martino has a leaning 17th-century bell tower. The island of Burano is dotted with cute and colourful buildings and narrow canals which are of course connected by bridges. You can simply romp on the entire island as its so beautiful!

For the last day we traveled about 87km to Burano Island and back to Marco Polo International Airport for our departure to Malaysia at 5.55pm on Qatar QR126 VCE-DOH Hamad Int. Airport. Day 8 (16.4.2019) Doha 2.05am to Malaysia on QR848 arriving KLIA at 3pm. "Home Sweet Home".

Approaching Burano Island with its Leaning Bell Tower in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy, near Torcello at the northern end of the Lagoon, known for its lace work and brightly coloured homes. The primary economy is tourism.

As soon as the boat approaches the green waters of the lagoon near Burano, you will sense that you have arrived in a magical place: a collection of little islands on the water; a tiny but infinite world.

As soon as the boat approaches the green waters of the lagoon we can experience a sense of wonder and whimsy as we pass by the rainbow coloured town of Burano.

The top of the Burano's Leaning Bell Tower has always been crowned by an angel, fell in 1867 during a storm; now in its place there is a cross of iron.

The three bridges (Tre Ponti) is the place to take romantic photography. This wooden bridge connects three canals and three of the most colorful streets of Burano (Via Giudecca, Via San Mauro and Via San Martino Sinistro), full of craft shops, small restaurants and many brightly coloured houses.

The Burano three bridges connect the three canals that run through the island. It is difficult to get lost on this island so it’s worth exploring some of the side streets to understand a little more about local life.

Across every Burano bridges showed an abundance of restaurants, homes and craft shops.

Walking through the alleyways of Burano, you will see the blue, pink, red, orange and violet. Annually the residents repaint the facades of their homes from top to bottom, and you see them admire the result with pride, their hands dirty with paint and the high ladders used to reach the roofs.

Hi Ching, Thank you for sharing. I visited the 13 countries in Western Europe, that includes Italy, in year 1984 but I didn't take many photos.
