2017 Strata Waterfalls, Sungai Sekiah @ 358m elevation

Strata Waterfalls Adventure in Diamond Creeks

12.08.2017 - Strata Waterfalls Adventure, a project of the Malaysian Outward Bound Youth Association (MOBYA) in conjunction with the Association 60th Anniversary and our country's Merdeka celebration. Malaysian celebrates its 60th National Day on 31 August 2017. Yours truly, Ching Neng Bin the Association's Treasurer General took the initiative to organise this adventure. Within 20 days, we managed to round up 32 participants for trekking up to the waterfalls. Strata Waterfalls is on Sungai Sekiah and at an elevation of 358 meter. We were all very glad to have done it, and trekking to the falls was truly an adventure. Our next trekking adventure would be Gunung Kutu near Kuala Kubu Bharu.

While waiting for the participants to arrive, Ching Neng Bin had the life time experience in this ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) at Diamond Creeks in the early morning of 12.08.2017. All-terrain vehicle with wheels are designed to travel on rough ground. In fact this was Ching's second time on ATV, his first time was the White Sand Dunes, Mui Ne in Vietnam. This ATV belongs to Simon Kaw a resident in Diamond Creeks.

10.15am - Ching Neng Bin gave a short briefing to all participants before the start of the trek.

Mr Val Allan the former school warden of Outward Bound School Lumut then gave a short briefing on tracking and commenced the event by blowing three sound with a bull's horn.

To get there is to go to Tanjung Malim and follow the directions for Kg Behrang Hulu and Proton City. After passing Proton City, look for a junction with a signboard to Diamond Creeks, a country resort. After 3 km you will reach the gate of this resort, where you must ask the security guards for permission to visit the waterfall. Continue the road until the end. Here the trail starts, first through neglected palm oil plantations.

10.35am - We were all at the trail head getting ready for trekking.

10.43am - Happy trekking commenced.

There are many trails, so finding your way can be a bit complicated.

10.55am - After crossing the bridge on the trail you keep the stream to your right until a river crossing.

11.13am - Taking a rest and waiting for the rest.

12.10am - At the first waterfall.

Basically you keep the stream to your right until you come to the river crossing. After the crossing the river should be on your left until you reach the waterfalls. The wide track becomes a small trail, sometimes quite overgrown. This is the second time visited the falls, the first time on 23.07.2017 via different route.

This is the start of river trekking, meaning walking along the river side.

This is a place to be extremely careful. Not only because the rocks are slippery, but this place is prone to flash flooding.

The many remains of sometimes huge trees give an impression of how powerful and dangerous the stream can then become.
